In reply to Rohit Siddegowda's post on September 23, Hi Once I was able to downloadand the patch and then run the compatibility problem solver within the control panel under programs Make older programs run in this version of Windows I was able to get the game running in both Windows 7 and Vista.

I still can't find the page it was on but when I typed Installing NWN1 for Win7vista including patch links - the right page came up I'll try and copy and paste the link into this but not sure if it will work.

The patch downloaded adn installed very easily. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. Rohit Siddegowda. That doesn't mean it won't work when all else fails, just that, by and large, you shouldn't have to.

As to the 64 bit version, there seems to be considerable success once the. DX9 is required for the toolset to run, but, in some cases, Win7 folks have been able to both run the game and use the toolset straight up from installation without going through any fancy hoops. Not always, though a fair number are reporting successful installation and running with nothing more than loading it up and going. This leads me to believe that hardware, and possibly firmware, differences in machines is the ultimate culprit.

The above troubleshooting tips have seemed to resolve nearly all, but the most difficult cases of issues. Posted 11 September - AM. Thank you all. Of course, till my new gpu the older has broken after 1 month of life ' has arrived, I can't check all these suggestions. But don't doubt I'll come back for answering Posted 24 September - AM.

Vista is the worse OS ever released. Win 3. I had Vista on my laptop. It got slower and slower and slower.

You'd be much better off with Win XP. It took over 5 minutes just to boot into Windows. I decided to upgrade my gaming rig which would include Win 7 Ultimate. My new rig:. I installed Win 7 on the SSD. It now takes only 13 seconds to boot into Windows. What a difference to bootup time. It installed and updated very, very quickly compared to Vista, which took half a lifetime. I set all graphics to max and NWN 2 has changed into a completely new game. Animation is silky smooth and Camera scrolling is now a breeze and no longer an effort.

Graphical effects of spells are nothing short of awesome, there's no other way to describe it. To say I'm impressed would be an understatement. The new gameplay justifies the expense. NWN 2 is now a joy to play and no longer a chore. No more x low resulution. Get yourself a 60Gb SSD, folks, if you don't already own one and live a new life, free from stress. There's plenty of room on the disk for the OS and a few games.

You'll enjoy NWN 2 much more. Posted 26 September - AM. That SSD sounds really sick. Still waiting for it though to go down in price and bigger in size. Technology is awesome. Recently upgraded my PC as well I now have though not as great as yours. Posted 28 September - AM. They're practically giving away HDDs now, a sign they're getting rid of old stock and a reduction in price of SSDs should be just around the corner. The camera problem has dissappeared, it's now silky smooth and a pleasure to use.

I tend to suspect the SSD is responsible for this, I can't see it being the graphics card since moving the camera would need to access the code on the SSD, I would think.

An added bonus. Actually the camera controls should be loaded into memory and held there or on page memory and if it is cached in page memory, then then SSD could provide a benefit. If you have a butt load of RAM more than 4G then that's the most likely source of your new silkiness.

How are your Area Transitions? The SSD should make that occur pretty nimbly. The SSD should make page memory and things like transitions or switching between applications run much faster Now I'm not saying the camera smoothness isn't due in part to the SSD, I'm saying that it's a lot more likely to be that additional video memory and system RAM. When I was trained for NT Admin and Support, and pretty much ever since when it comes to fixing and upgrading computers the adage is: the fastest and cheapest way to improve any computer's performance is to Add RAM.

Then again, what's a hard drive that's all on Silicon? Basically it's SRAM. Check those Area Transitions and your game's initial load times.

That's where your SSD should really shine. Posted 28 September - PM. Area transmissions are 3 seconds at the most so far, usually 1 second. The game loads in seconds. I'll take your advice on the RAM front. I want to increase the RAM to 8Gb eventually. I've yet to overclock the memory and vid card, so there should be a significant improvement when I do. Immediate area transitions should be the order of the day. It's taken me 8 years or so to update my rig, so I splashed out for top notch parts, even down to the case, building it myself.

Even so, it was considerably cheaper than purchasing a similar specced rig from an online store. Posted 06 November - AM. This is confirmed on win 7 x64 bit just installed with the instructions and it playes fine. Posted 28 December - AM. Installed and runs great for me on Win7 64bit too. No problems encountered so far. Posted 11 January - AM. Has anyone got the setSTR or any other of the stat cheats to work in win7 with the platinum version to work???? I know the cheats work casue I can get 'irolltwenties' to work and I don't want that one..

I just want to bump up my stats and cant' get it to work You have selected your character and the DebugMode is on? It all works when I test it. Posted 12 January - PM. Right click on these and select properties. Set them to run with full permissions, as administrator and under compatibility mode windows XP service pack 2 or 3. If your old machine was vista, then this has probably already been done, but check anyway!

If you want a desktop shortcut Right click on nwnmain.
